Following safely
Following too closely removes the only thing that saves you when the vehicle in front stops suddenly: distance.
Watch the brake lights ahead of the vehicle in front where you can - reacting to the vehicle two ahead buys you a full second.
Behind a large vehicle, drop further back. You cannot see past it, and it can stop harder than you expect.
If someone follows YOU too closely, do not brake to make a point. Ease off gently and let them past.
