Driving at night
Turn the headlights on as soon as it is dark. They are there to be seen by as much as to see with, so use them in poor light before you feel you need them.
Dip your beam for oncoming traffic and when following another vehicle. A driver you have dazzled cannot see the road, and for a few seconds neither of you is in control.
Drive at a speed you could stop within the distance your lights actually reach - at night that is usually less than the road ahead you can imagine.
Keep the windscreen and lights clean. A dirty screen turns oncoming headlights into a wall of glare.
