Speed restrictions
Speed limits are set for the road and the vehicle, and shown on a circular sign with a red border. The number is a maximum in good conditions - not a speed you are entitled to reach.
Urban areas, school zones, hospital areas, markets and work zones are all slower, whether or not a sign is present. Heavy and public vehicles are held to lower limits than private cars.
A speed-limit sign remains in force until it is cancelled by another sign or by the end-of-restriction sign, which is the same sign crossed through.
